whales in hawaii on the big island

Funny story... last night 1 am... we hear what we thought were "gunshots" (pop pop pop) well lots of them, like ten, enough to wake us up. We're poised to call the police... then it stops. We wait, then it starts again. Well, it's unlikely someone would shoot "so many" times... then we hear a LOUD groan and water spouting! Yup, it's the whales! They are certainly more active this year than in the last ten years! We see them just about two times a day (am and pm)... we are blessed to be able to share this gorgeous island paradise with such magnificent beings and to be so close to them.
